This trip has been so much more than a seeing of sights or a collection of ahhhh-ahhhh moments. Those have, of course, popped up as unexpected pleasures, but more this visit really has been a meander, a flaneur through small streets, with stops along the way to sit at a café and sometimes make a “friend for the moment”, exchanging hometowns locales and Paris highlights.
Unfortunately, the trip has been far too much about transport, both because my phone developed Uber-phobia and my feet went on a sit-down strike. But the silver lining has been the people I’ve met along the way and the shedding of some of my self-consciousness. Feeling more comfortable (finally in my life) with asking for assistance and trying out a little more of my pig-Latin French than ever before. Perhaps it’s best summed up as he substitution of plaisir for angst!
Speaking of plaisir – remember last year’s amazing Klimt light show? Well, this year it is Vincent, combined with Dreams of a Floating World. The gallery, Atelier des Lumieres, in which the show is located, is a former foundry now become a showplace for digital light and show displays. Here is a slide show taste …
