Here I am, sitting in the early morning light on my balcony, trying to write “one true sentence” …. that Hemingway curse ! Actually what I am doing is just loving this moment, not worrying about what I’ll do today or when I’ll do it.
It’s wonderful having a Room with a View, meaning my little balcony overlooking the intersection of Blvd Sebastopol and Rue Rambuteau. Usually, the street is strewn with wanderers — the tourists and strollers — but this morning it is the locals who are up and about. You can tell that because they are walking purposefully (probably to work), wearing earbuds and carrying computer bags or purses hung loosely on their shoulders. (Locals are the ones who have stylish bags without a thousand zippers that they clutch tightly under their arm.)
Here is another balcony view … notice the top of the picture, how Parisians bring the country to the city with their balcony plantings …
Now, the quiz of the day ….. what is “wrong”, what is missing in the picture below ?
Here’s another view …..
VOILA !!! No vehicle traffic ! One Sunday a month, the city center is shut down to traffic. Only taxis, buses and street sweeping trucks are permitted. Welcome instead, bikes, roller blades — and people !
Enjoy your day — and be careful crossing the street !
