…as in these bits and pieces of thoughts and observations while meandering ……
* I decided to publish this beginning to what was a long post that somehow disappeared into the hades of cybertrash (where ever that resides) … needless to say, I forgot to keep tapping “Save Draft” as I went along ……..
So …….. the upshot is you are now reading white space … and I may (or may not) at some later time reconstruct this missing post of brilliant observations ….. but I’ll do a sampling to whet your appetite :
* no body paint (tattoos) * rings only on fingers * no short cutoff jeans shorts * a kinder, simpler, slower pace of life * bookstores everywhere — and people reading “real” books * not a single Nook or Kindle sighting (and I have hidden mine) * couples actually talking to each other in a restaurant * French waiters for the most part are not rude * shortage of ubiquitous cell phone mania * smoking everywhere * BO is still a problem in close quarters * yes the rooms are small ! * Americans can still be ugly visitors * supreme shortage of fat people * small croissants and food portions * obscenely wonderful pastries * Starbucks everywhere (and a few McDonalds, but the carry out bags don’t have a name, just a print of a McD’s french fries box) * you don’t need talent to perform on the street corner * buses are plentiful and modern * I’m still afraid of the metro but will venture on it soon * for the lucky few, postcards will be in the mail shortly * has anyone heard from my sons ? * PS — as long as I have your attention, click the link on the last post to see the poem in its actual format * There’s a six hour time difference here, so I’m going to sleep !
