2015 — the 100th birthday of Edith Piaf and 200 years since Jean Valjean finished serving 19 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread (very french) and several escape attempts (… it’s a long Misérable story)
And now, it’s also just six days until lift-off of Air Transat … high excitement mixed with fluttering anxiety …. Breathe deeply, it’s too late to turn back …
Paris in May … What’s in store ? A three course cooking class (in one hour — and I get to keep the recipe), a sunset concert beneath the stained glass of St Chapelle with Vivaldi and Albinoni, an after-hours tour of Opera Garnier (minus the opera), a women-in-jazz street concert in St Germain des Pres … and (hopefully) lots of baguettes and cafe creme, a sampling of raclette, long walks along the Seine, sitting in the Luxembourg Gardens, some after hours cave jazz and calvados ….
All the good things — along with sore feet at times, a daunting mountain of apartment steps, inevitable rain and yes, some loneliness missing my friends and family ……… So .. stay in touch when you can, send cyberhugs my way and drop in here from time to time for an update ….
